Makari Series: Makari Whitening Exfoliating Soap

Hello Lovelies,

Today, I will be reviewing my favorite beauty product MAKARI WHITENING EXFOLIATING SOAP.

I have been using it for a while and I love the changes on my skin. Even as it exfiolates, it is not harsh on the Skin. It also does not strip the skin off its natural oils. I used it daily for 2 months.

It is an enriched exfoliating bar soap which gently sloughs dull skin removing impurities, improves skins texture, evens tone for a flawless look and revitalizes skin’s natural glow.
  • Detoxifies and removes impurities
  • Resurfaces skin’s texture
  • Boosts skin’s natural radiance
  • For all skin types except sensitive

Key Ingredients:

  • Vegeclairine: A non-chemical, proprietary blend of botanical lightening agents.
  • Apricot extract:  Nourishes, soothes and slows the effects of aging

Ingredients:
Sodium Palmate, Sodium Kernelate, Aqua (Water), Parfum (Fragrance), Glycerin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Triclosan, Mulberry Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot Seed) Extract, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid.

I realized after using the soap, all other products worked better on my skin.  It removed all debris on my skin enabling creams and oil penetrate into my skin therefore I was seeing faster result. My Skin was looking well moisturized and all the dullest was gone. So I will definitely recommend it as the first step to prepare the skin before using any other makari products.

Another reason I love Makari Whitening exfiolating soap is its big size. It can last more than a month. Secondly, I love it because I saw changes on my skin with just one bar.  Good value for your money hey!

It does not whiten the skin but it evened out my skin, made my skin glow and a little brighter. Also got alot of compliments that I look younger.

The most awesome thing is that It cleared my skin tags. This is a soap I definitely can not do without.

On becoming by Toke Makinwa

Hello Lovelies,

Today I will be reveiwing ON BECOMING book by Toke Makinwa.

On Becoming is about the author’s personal experiences. My review is based on what I read in her book.

The author says it “is not a tell-all but a must tell”, and the book did speak of many things. She spoke of her childhood days, and the sad loss of her parents as a result of a fire incident in their home when she was 8 years old and its impact on her life.

The author also writes about her longtime boyfriend who later became her husband. She shares her journey with him before and after  marriage. A journey of disrespect, endurance, cheating , lies and pain.

What I got from her book:

  • I think you should love yourself enough to prevent unnecessary heart break and pain especially when you see alot signs that the relationship is not meant to be.
  • It is very hard for people to change. Change comes from within oneself. If you are in a relationship to change the other person that relationship is bound to fail.
  • Love is the purest thing. So if you are in a relationship full of disrespect, cheating and lying that is something else because love is not toxic.
  • A partner should be attracted to more than your physical attributes.
  • You should not alter your physical attributes for anyone.
  • Some people think being disrespected is better than being alone. That is so wrong.

No Woman deserves to be mentally and emotionally abused in a relationship like Toke Makinwa went through; she should have exited the relationship a long time ago, instead of hurting herself by accepting to STAY with a guy that obviously only saw her as a FLING!

Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.

I applaud Toke Makinwa for sharing her vulnerability to us. It will definitely help alot of relationships because alot of people are in this dilemma. It is beautiful to watch and read how she rediscovered her voice after being treated in an unworthy manner.

Toke Makinwa’s on becoming is simply an end to a circle of abuse.

Movie Review: Banana Island Ghost (B.I.G)

Hello Lovelies,

Today, I will be reviewing Banana Island Ghost which I watched on the 4th of August in the Cinema.

I have been anticipating this movie coming out so I had to watch it the day it premiered in cinemas. The most incredible thing about this movie is the graphics and how well they could depict the ghost and God scenes. It was so real and believable. This movie makes me proud to be associated with Nigeria because the growth of the Nollywood industry brings me so much joy.

This movie is definitely the best Nigerian visual and special effects movie ever.

B.I.G is a comedy movie about a ghost who is scared to go to heaven because he doesn’t have a soulmate, so he convinces God to give him three days to fall in love. He is then paired with the cantankerous firecracker Ijeoma (Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah), who will do anything to save her father’s house in Banana Island from the bank. Ijeoma has three days to raise 18 million Naira to save her late father’s Banana Island house from the bank reclaiming and selling it to Mr King (Ali Nuhu). The pair must first survive each other, then learn to work together, and eventually fall in love, to see their destinies unfold.

The outstanding cast in B.I.G are: Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah, Patrick Diabuah, Adetomiwa Edun, Saidi Balogun, Ali Nuhu, Uche Jombo, Bimbo Manuel, Akah Nnani, Damilola Adegbite, Kemi Lala Akindoju, Dorcas Sola Fapson, DJ Obi, Biola Alabi, Uche Nwaefuna, Tina Mba and Abimbola Ademoye.

My most outstanding characters are Ijeoma (Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah), Ghost (Patrick Diabuah), Sergeant (Akah Nnani), God (Bimbo Manuel).

My favourite part of the movie was when some people where laughing at Ijeoma’s car and she wanted to fight. The ghost whispered in her eye that he had a better idea. Since no one else could see him except HER. He decided to enter the car and she acted like the car could obey voice commands. So he played a song, answered Ijeoma’s commands and opened the door for her. Everyone was amazed. The ghost was her guardian angel.

Kudos to B.I.G writer, BB Sasore. The story-line was sweet, relatable and relevant.

The cast of this movie brought their A game. I loved that the actors were from different genres (Yoruba actors, Hausa actors and English-speaking actors).

Ijeoma (Chigul) performance was excellent. I was really pitying her. I fell in love with the Ghost’s (Patrick) character. I love all the mischief he got up to. All I wanted to do was slap the Sergeant (Akah Nnani). He was so annoying and funny.

It was an afternoon well spent. I laughed and cried during the movie. Kudos to the entire B.I.G team.

Dubai Series: Desert Safari Adventure

Hello Lovelies,

Today, I will be reviewing my trip to the desert safari in Dubai.

One of the places on my list to visit in Dubai was desert safari. I had heard so much about dune bashing  (rollercoaster ride through the sand) So I decided to go try it out.

I booked a trip with a tour bus and was told where I will be picked from the following day.

I took a train to my pickup location and waited for the bus. When the bus arrived, I paid for my trip before getting on the bus.

We picked up other people from different locations then headed out to Oman (desert safari) it was a 2 hours drive.

When we got off the tour bus. We entered a Land Cruiser. I was puzzled on what was going on (we didn’t know our dune bashing adventure had started). We were driven round the desert with high-speed. It was scary. We will go on high sand hills then come down with speed. Then climb again. Some people were screaming, crying and laughing. It was terrifying.

When we got off the jeep. I took some minutes to slow down my beating heart. Then got on a camel. It was a slow and short ride. I was scared the camel will gallop off but it did not. I had a lovely camel ride.

Then I spotted a henna artist and went to get henna on my hands. I got a beautiful design with glitters. You can read my desert safari henna experience here.

I found a section to play dress up. So I dressed up as a Arab woman and took pictures.

There were other vendors. I bought roasted sweet corn. It was too too sweet. I also bought a beautiful scarf because the weather was cold.

Another section had free snacks, hot tea, drinks being served. I got some to eat.

We all took our seats and waited for the show to begin. Some dancers performed, magicians performed tricks and other acts performed on the stage.

After the show, we all queued for free buffet meals. It was delicious. Then we all got back on our buses and were dropped off at our pickup location.

My whole desert safari experience was fun and I had alot of first. It was a beautiful day well spent. Dubai is the best in hospitality and they know to give a good show.

Have you ever been to the desert safari? Please share your experience.

AfroRiri Hibiscus mask

Hello Lovelies,

Recently,  I got AfroRiri hibiscus powder to treat my natural hair because it was breaking.

I learnt if you are suffering from weak roots and porous hair then Hibiscus can be the most ideal remedy . Its essential elements strengthen weak roots and treats pore clogging by stimulating blood circulation to scalp . It encourages hair growth by supplying essential nutrients to follicles.

I have tried other AfroRiri products so I was sure I was getting the best. I decided to mix the hibiscus with AfroRiri Luxe coconut oil ( Coconut oil promotes shine, helps to detangle hair, seals in moisture and softens hair.

When mixed in a bowl, I applied the mixture on my hair. I covered my hair with shower cap and let it stay on my hair for  4 hours.

After washing off the paste from my hair. I was amazed at the results. My hair had red highlights😀. My hair was so soft and shiny.  Also, after combing my hair I noticed no hair was on the comb.

Have you ever tried any hibiscus homemade recipe on your hair? Please share your experience?
