Movie Review: Banana Island Ghost (B.I.G)

Hello Lovelies,

Today, I will be reviewing Banana Island Ghost which I watched on the 4th of August in the Cinema.

I have been anticipating this movie coming out so I had to watch it the day it premiered in cinemas. The most incredible thing about this movie is the graphics and how well they could depict the ghost and God scenes. It was so real and believable. This movie makes me proud to be associated with Nigeria because the growth of the Nollywood industry brings me so much joy.

This movie is definitely the best Nigerian visual and special effects movie ever.

B.I.G is a comedy movie about a ghost who is scared to go to heaven because he doesn’t have a soulmate, so he convinces God to give him three days to fall in love. He is then paired with the cantankerous firecracker Ijeoma (Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah), who will do anything to save her father’s house in Banana Island from the bank. Ijeoma has three days to raise 18 million Naira to save her late father’s Banana Island house from the bank reclaiming and selling it to Mr King (Ali Nuhu). The pair must first survive each other, then learn to work together, and eventually fall in love, to see their destinies unfold.

The outstanding cast in B.I.G are: Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah, Patrick Diabuah, Adetomiwa Edun, Saidi Balogun, Ali Nuhu, Uche Jombo, Bimbo Manuel, Akah Nnani, Damilola Adegbite, Kemi Lala Akindoju, Dorcas Sola Fapson, DJ Obi, Biola Alabi, Uche Nwaefuna, Tina Mba and Abimbola Ademoye.

My most outstanding characters are Ijeoma (Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah), Ghost (Patrick Diabuah), Sergeant (Akah Nnani), God (Bimbo Manuel).

My favourite part of the movie was when some people where laughing at Ijeoma’s car and she wanted to fight. The ghost whispered in her eye that he had a better idea. Since no one else could see him except HER. He decided to enter the car and she acted like the car could obey voice commands. So he played a song, answered Ijeoma’s commands and opened the door for her. Everyone was amazed. The ghost was her guardian angel.

Kudos to B.I.G writer, BB Sasore. The story-line was sweet, relatable and relevant.

The cast of this movie brought their A game. I loved that the actors were from different genres (Yoruba actors, Hausa actors and English-speaking actors).

Ijeoma (Chigul) performance was excellent. I was really pitying her. I fell in love with the Ghost’s (Patrick) character. I love all the mischief he got up to. All I wanted to do was slap the Sergeant (Akah Nnani). He was so annoying and funny.

It was an afternoon well spent. I laughed and cried during the movie. Kudos to the entire B.I.G team.

Movie Review: 10 days in Sun City

Hello Lovelies,

Today I will be reviewing 10 Days in Sun City produced by talented Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, aka AY.

I have seen his other award-winning movies, a Trip to Jamaica and 30 Days in Atlanta. So I was really excited to watch 10 days in Sun City.

10 Days in Sun City is another Akpos franchise and one of the series of his adventure. This time around Akpos decides to go to Sun city in South Africa to have some fun. This movie was shot in Sun City, Johannesburg and Nigeria.

10 Days in Sun City tells the generic grass to grace story of Bianca (played by Adesua Etomi). Bianca, as the story unfolds, is aspiring to compete in a Nigerian beauty Pageant, representing Delta State.

10 Days in Sun City’ is a potpourri of love, drama, passion and culture combined with generous portions of comedy. The movie is a feature-length comedy-drama that sees Akpos on another “adventure”, this time, to South Africa, with his girlfriend Bianca.

Bianca is a campus beauty queen who Akpos has sacrificed his livelihood to make successful. After successfully winning a national beauty pageant, BIANCA, ever loyal to Akpos, is now an international celebrity rolling with society’s ‘high and mighty’. She is, amongst several mouth-watering corporate endorsements, global ambassador to, and the face of multi-national cosmetics conglomerate ‘OTAWI’ which is owned by Nigeria’s richest man, Otunba Ayoola Williams, aka ‘The Old Fox’. To Otunba, Bianca represents more than the face of his company, he has plans for her to play a bigger role in the business as well as in his ‘life’. So Otunba decides to embark on the same journey to South Africa. Bianca has no idea what lies in store neither does Akpos. But will Akpos give up his love with all the sweat he has invested or will Otunba loose this time with the use of his wit and charm as the ‘old fox’ which he has used to conquer like he has done, time and again, in the world of business?

The hilarious star-studded comedy movie features A-list movie cast from Nigeria such as Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ayo Makun, Adesua Etomi, Mercy Johnson, Falz (The Bahd Guy), 2Baba Idibia, Gbenro Ajibade, Juliet Ibrahim, Uti Nwachukwu, Annie Idibia and Freeze to name a few.

The movie also features Miguel Nunez Jr. from Hollywood and hilarious South Africa cast that includes the sensational Amanda Du Pont, comedienne Thenjiwe Moseley, Celeste Ntuli and lots more.

I am really happy about the growth of Nigerian movie industry. This movie nailed all the action parts. It was refreshing to watch. I love that Akpos and Bianca love conquered all obstacles. (Otunba succeeds in splitting Akpos and Bianca but his success does not last long enough for him to reap the fruits. AY pairs up with Miguel Nunez Jr who has scores to settle with Otunba to rescue Bianca from the influential Otunba who holds her hostage.)

My most outstanding characters are Gbenro Ajibade (Otunba’s bodyguard) and RMD (Otunba). I loved Gbenro’s action scenes. He was a total bad ass.😀 RMD also slayed his part. He gave the confident rendition of his character.

Movie Review: Isoken

Hello Lovelies,

Yesterday, I decided to treat myself to a movie. I picked ISOKEN to watch and I was not disappointed. Some scenes in the movie, I had to struggle to hear because the movie had everyone in the hall laughing and talking (yes, it was that good)❤ A movie I will watch more than once. I will never get tired of watching this movie over and over again.

Everyone in the Osayande family worries about Isoken. Although she has what appears to have a perfect life – beautiful, successful and surrounded by great family and friends – Isoken is still unmarried at 34 which, in a culture obsessed with married, is serious cause for concern. Things come to a head at her youngest sister’s wedding when her overbearing mother thrusts her into an orchestrated matchmaking with the ultimate Edo man, Osaze. Osaze is handsome, successful and from a good family, making him perfect Nigerian husband material. But in an unexpected turn of events, Isoken meets Kevin who she finds herself falling in love with and he just might be what she truly wants in a partner. The only problem is, not only is he not an Edo man, he is Oyinbo (Caucasian). Isoken is a romantic dramedy that explores cultural expectations, racial stereotypes and the bonds that unite families in touching, dramatic and comedic ways.

This is a relevant story that has been told about the pressure of marriages in our society. From not marrying at a certain age, to being match made and not getting pregnant after marriage. Isoken  movie shows us how marrying for the wrong reasons can cause you unfulfillment, unhappiness and bitterness.

I love Isoken the movie. It is entertaining, educative and romantic movie. Definitely an award-winning movie.

I was glad Isoken (Dakore Akande) chose her relationship with Kevin (Marc Rhys) because with him she was herself and on the long run it will last.

Kudos to the cast of this movie. They all came to slay their roles. The soundtrack of the movie was the bomb.

I cried when Isoken (Dakore Akande) stood up to her mum finally at the end of the movie. (Best part of the movie😀)

My outstanding characters in the movie are Isoken’s mum (Tina Mba), Isoken’s friend (Funke Akindele), Isoken’s aunty (Edward Rita), Isoken’s brother (Abayomi Alvin) and Isoken’s staff (Akah Nnani)

My favourite character in the movie is Kevin ( Marc Rhys).

Movie Review: War Room

Hello Lovelies,

Recently, I watched the movie called War room. I am so surprised am just hearing of it since it was released in 2015. Of course I had to review it. I will start by saying it is a must watch movie. It teaches us the right way to fight our battles (through prayers) and teaches us not to give up when we have trials.

SYNOPSIS: Tony and Elizabeth Jordan have it all-great jobs, a beautiful daughter, and their dream house. But appearances can be deceiving. Tony and Elizabeth Jordan’s world is actually crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. While Tony basks in his professional success and flirts with temptation, Elizabeth resigns herself to increasing bitterness. But their lives take an unexpected turn when Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, and is challenged to establish a “war room” and a battle plan of prayer for her family. As Elizabeth tries to fight for her family, Tony’s hidden struggles come to light. Tony must decide if he will make amends to his family and prove Miss Clara’s wisdom that victories don’t come by accident.

This is a very awesome movie. Kudos to the script writer and the whole movie crew. The story is an affirmation of what prayer does. The enemy may try his best to put you down but when you decide to fight him you will be victorious. It is a movie everyone can relate to because everyone has one challenge. It is a movie to watch when you are down so you can remember to be hopeful and INTENSIFY prayers.

Movie Review : Me before you

I watched me before you some months ago and I was so sad at the turn out of the movie.

Recently, I saw it listed as one of the saddest movies of 2016. I wish I had seen that before watching it. I would have prepared my mind to know what to expect .

Lou (Emilia Clarke), a girl in a small town forms an unlikely bond with a recently paralyzed man called William [Sam Claflin]. Who she is taking care of. A budding friendship and romance develops. The movie depicts William’s life as worthwhile and precious. It is William’s own judgment that his life cannot go on as it is, and that he would prefer to die. With regard to this, the movie does tend to downplay the pain and suffering that William experiences. Instead it focuses on the good times and precious moments he spends with Lou.

The movie left me in tears and depressed the next day. The worst part is, I watched it at night so it was difficult to sleep off afterwards.

Recently, I found out the film was made from  a novel by Jojo Moyes. The second part of the book called after you  is out. Hopefully it will give us closure from the pain and unanswered questions from part one.

This is definitely an award-winning film. Brilliant performance from the cast.
