Hear Word Stage Play Review

Hello Lovelies,

Recently, I won two tickets to watch the Hear Word stage play on the 5th of August at Muson centre.

I and my date went to watch it and we had the most amazing experience.

I have never been to the theatre thought it was for the older generation but this play changed my view. I love it😀

Plot: Women openly expressing their opinions on the deep-rooted inequality between men and women is not something you will hear too often in countries such as Nigeria. Hear Word! breaks through this culture of silence with a stand-up show crammed full of colourful characters unafraid to tackle any subject. Ten leading actresses engage in a revealing commentary on highly charged themes such as arranged marriage, domestic violence and female genital mutilation, as well as more universal topics such as the limited role played by women in government and politics. They present personal stories of Nigerian women with compassion and humour, accompanied by powerful commentary. A passionate indictment of the status quo and a powerful call for change: Hear Word!

Directed by Ifeoma Fafunwa starring Joke Silva, Bimbo Akintola, Omonor, Elvina Ibru, Ufuoma McDermott, Zara Udofia-Ejoh, Rita Edward, Oluchi Tochukwu and Debbie Ohiri.

I was inspired and touched by hear word stage play.  This play shines more light on Nigerian women issues and how we should face and change them. It is sad that Hear Word stories are real life experiences.

It is inspiring that people have come together to change our world in their own little way with this play. Hear Word play is empowering.

Hear Word play is art at its peak. It was entertaining and educative. The casts were passionate and professional. They had the right attitude to pass the message with their craft.

Thanks to the director for this wonderful initiative. These stories are relevant to be told and the exposure is needed. It is definitely a must watch play.

You all deserve a standing ovation and so much more.

Movie Review: Banana Island Ghost (B.I.G)

Hello Lovelies,

Today, I will be reviewing Banana Island Ghost which I watched on the 4th of August in the Cinema.

I have been anticipating this movie coming out so I had to watch it the day it premiered in cinemas. The most incredible thing about this movie is the graphics and how well they could depict the ghost and God scenes. It was so real and believable. This movie makes me proud to be associated with Nigeria because the growth of the Nollywood industry brings me so much joy.

This movie is definitely the best Nigerian visual and special effects movie ever.

B.I.G is a comedy movie about a ghost who is scared to go to heaven because he doesn’t have a soulmate, so he convinces God to give him three days to fall in love. He is then paired with the cantankerous firecracker Ijeoma (Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah), who will do anything to save her father’s house in Banana Island from the bank. Ijeoma has three days to raise 18 million Naira to save her late father’s Banana Island house from the bank reclaiming and selling it to Mr King (Ali Nuhu). The pair must first survive each other, then learn to work together, and eventually fall in love, to see their destinies unfold.

The outstanding cast in B.I.G are: Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah, Patrick Diabuah, Adetomiwa Edun, Saidi Balogun, Ali Nuhu, Uche Jombo, Bimbo Manuel, Akah Nnani, Damilola Adegbite, Kemi Lala Akindoju, Dorcas Sola Fapson, DJ Obi, Biola Alabi, Uche Nwaefuna, Tina Mba and Abimbola Ademoye.

My most outstanding characters are Ijeoma (Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah), Ghost (Patrick Diabuah), Sergeant (Akah Nnani), God (Bimbo Manuel).

My favourite part of the movie was when some people where laughing at Ijeoma’s car and she wanted to fight. The ghost whispered in her eye that he had a better idea. Since no one else could see him except HER. He decided to enter the car and she acted like the car could obey voice commands. So he played a song, answered Ijeoma’s commands and opened the door for her. Everyone was amazed. The ghost was her guardian angel.

Kudos to B.I.G writer, BB Sasore. The story-line was sweet, relatable and relevant.

The cast of this movie brought their A game. I loved that the actors were from different genres (Yoruba actors, Hausa actors and English-speaking actors).

Ijeoma (Chigul) performance was excellent. I was really pitying her. I fell in love with the Ghost’s (Patrick) character. I love all the mischief he got up to. All I wanted to do was slap the Sergeant (Akah Nnani). He was so annoying and funny.

It was an afternoon well spent. I laughed and cried during the movie. Kudos to the entire B.I.G team.

Dubai Series: Desert Safari Adventure

Hello Lovelies,

Today, I will be reviewing my trip to the desert safari in Dubai.

One of the places on my list to visit in Dubai was desert safari. I had heard so much about dune bashing  (rollercoaster ride through the sand) So I decided to go try it out.

I booked a trip with a tour bus and was told where I will be picked from the following day.

I took a train to my pickup location and waited for the bus. When the bus arrived, I paid for my trip before getting on the bus.

We picked up other people from different locations then headed out to Oman (desert safari) it was a 2 hours drive.

When we got off the tour bus. We entered a Land Cruiser. I was puzzled on what was going on (we didn’t know our dune bashing adventure had started). We were driven round the desert with high-speed. It was scary. We will go on high sand hills then come down with speed. Then climb again. Some people were screaming, crying and laughing. It was terrifying.

When we got off the jeep. I took some minutes to slow down my beating heart. Then got on a camel. It was a slow and short ride. I was scared the camel will gallop off but it did not. I had a lovely camel ride.

Then I spotted a henna artist and went to get henna on my hands. I got a beautiful design with glitters. You can read my desert safari henna experience here.

I found a section to play dress up. So I dressed up as a Arab woman and took pictures.

There were other vendors. I bought roasted sweet corn. It was too too sweet. I also bought a beautiful scarf because the weather was cold.

Another section had free snacks, hot tea, drinks being served. I got some to eat.

We all took our seats and waited for the show to begin. Some dancers performed, magicians performed tricks and other acts performed on the stage.

After the show, we all queued for free buffet meals. It was delicious. Then we all got back on our buses and were dropped off at our pickup location.

My whole desert safari experience was fun and I had alot of first. It was a beautiful day well spent. Dubai is the best in hospitality and they know to give a good show.

Have you ever been to the desert safari? Please share your experience.
